A company started by the Ferragamo family (of fashion fame) with around 180 properties, of which 80 are directly managed by Windows on Tuscany and 33 owned by the Ferragamos. Some are available only for medium to long-term rentals, others for weekly or daily rentals. The minimum stay is generally three days but at most properties there is no fixed start or finish date.
Where
Florence, Tuscan countryside, Venice and Rome. All properties are available for flexible periods and short breaks.
Style
Rated two to five stars, some less elegant than others but with alternative attractions such as a very central location. Most have a washing machine and around a quarter have a dishwasher. Many are in very old palaces in the centre of Florence. In all the Florentine properties in particular, the aim of the design is to blend art, culture and history. However, in all cases they come with air conditioning, satellite TV, phone, kitchen appliances, and in some palazzi, a lift. Properties outside Tuscany are in the programme from other agencies with similar aims.
Season
Year round, heating included in the price.
Facilities
Cots available at €50 including linen, and high chairs, both bookable in advance. English-speaking babysitters can be arranged if requested in advance, for both city and countryside properties at around €12-15 an hour.
Extras
Around a quarter of properties come with maid service. The policy is to try to meet any client request and a wide range of extras can be arranged including hotel concierge service, car and cycle rental, car with driver rental, catering, cooking lessons, city guided tours, museum reservations, food lover tours, shopping tours. Other requests can be made to the office in Florence.
Sample Price
€3,875 for a four-star property with 12-metre pool sleeping eight, for a week in high season.
