Launched in 2002 by a partnership with more than 10 years' experience working in the Italian travel business. Bookings are made to a London number which transfers at the cost of a local rate call to those in Italy who provide a personalised service.

Where

Chianti, Montalcino, Siena, Urbino in Tuscany, Amalfi coast, Florence, Rome, Sardinia and Sicily.

Style

Villas, manor houses, country cottages, farmhouses, apartments and even a converted 10th century monastery. Most are furnished with antiques and with their own gardens. Around half have a swimming pool.

Season

Most properties are available year round though a handful are available only peak season. This said, other periods are available on request. Heating is included in the price.

Facilities

For babies and toddlers will supply equipment including cots (€20 per week) and high chairs (€15 per week). Baby sitting with English speaking experienced sitters can be arranged at a cost of €10 per hour. Activities for children 5-6 years old include painting classes (€180 per person), sculpture and ceramic classes (€200 per person) and pizza cooking classes (€230 per person). Slightly older children can enjoy fun art tours in Florence designed to be both entertaining and educational for children, led by English speaking guides.

Extras

All properties offer a personalised service, 'second to none'. including daily maid service, food hamper on arrival and mid-week linen change. Can arrange a cook and will provide tailored local information on attractions and for example suitable restaurants in the area.
Family activities can be organised including recommended treks and walks (with or without a guide), horse riding and biking trails.
Can also arrange for example private guided art tours, cookery classes, hot air ballooning and more. ‘Nothing is too much.'
All clients are met at the property on arrival.

Sample Price

A one week stay at La Scuola in Cetona, any time between 15 June and 31 August 2002 costs € 6.000 plus € 300 insurance. La Scuola can sleep 10 in five double bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and offers fine views plus a large swimming pool and is quite close to Siena and to Orvieto. As well as heating the price including breakfast and daily maid service.
