Staff know the accommodation ("not just type of stairs but exactly how many") and encourage potential clients to ask for guidance.

Where

Tuscany plus Umbria, Lazio, the Lakes, Veneto, Neapolitan Riviera, Sicily, Le Marche, Abruzzo and Liguria.

Style

In Tuscany and Umbria all rural, from simple cottages and apartments to larger villas, together with some city and town-based properties, around 70% with pools, around 40% sleeping six-plus.

Season

Around 60% of properties are available year-round. At some heating is inclusive. Some have wood fires.

Facilities

Cots available on request at £25 per week with sheets. No babysitting (doubtful about leaving children with strangers).

Extras

Cooks and cleaners can be arranged at around 20% of properties, payable locally at £5-£12 per hour, depending on distance travelled. Only some villas have dishwashers and washing machines and not at smaller properties.

Sample Price

For a week in a two-bedroom property with shared pool in peak season, £730 accommodation only. Also arranges flights and car hire or Channel crossings and hotel bookings en route for those wishing to drive.
