Recommendations

Kenya because of its easy accessibility and wide range of options for visitors, particularly on the beach where there are kids clubs at hotels, Tanzania as having better wildlife and more elegant beach options on Zanzibar, but longer travel times, not Zimbabwe currently but instead Botswana and the likes of Kwando safaris and Chobe National Park plus Victoria Falls though this is more expensive than Kenya and the recommendation would be to combine Botswana with south Africa. A typical itinerary would be 4 nights Cape town, 2 nights Garden route, 2 nights Sun City, 2 nights Vic Falls and 2 nights Chobe National Park or 4 nights with Kwando Safaris.

Sample Price

In Kenya a 10-night family safari + beach itinerary ranges from US$3,050 (approx £2,200) to US$3,815 (approx £2,700) for two adults and two children sharing a room in or from US$3,525 to US$4,519 for two rooms in 3-4-star accommodation. The price excludes all international and domestic flights and park fee of approx £25 per child but includes other activities recommended for children plus mineral water, soft drinks and snack while on safari to ensure that children drinks enough fluids. In Tanzania a 13-night (7 nights safari + 6 nights beach) itinerary ranges from £6,100 in the low season to £7,550 in the high season for two adults + two children sharing a room in four-star accommodation, excluding international flights but including two domestic flights from Serengeti/Arusha/Zanzibar.
