Holidays by Destination Australasia Australia Getting There
The long journey is a disincentive for adults, let alone those with children. While you could go for the all-in-one-haul option, saving at least a day on the way there and the way back, those who have tried it usually recommend a stopover. Singapore is a classic stopping point and, given the immigration queues and hassles in the US, is currently a good choice, offering an easily digestible flavour of Asia as well as lying on a natural itinerary between the UK and Australia.
Although most visitors arrive or depart from Sydney, the growth of services to other points are encouraging visitors to consider Brisbane or Cairns, closer to the Great Barrier Reef, or Perth, calculated as offering the shortest flight time from the UK makes a good departure point. Flight TimeDepending on the destination but generally 22 hours to Sydney, 21 to Cairns, 16 to Darwin. Time DifferenceGMT +10 Flight SpecialistsIf you need flights only try;
