Holidays by Destination Europe Spain Canaries Getting Around

There are local buses, serving even remote areas of Tenerife four or five times a day. However, a hire car may be useful. Roads, though often high and winding, are generally well maintained but a jeep would be useful for getting to the more remote on unsealed tracks.
Note that the islands get considerably busier when the locals get to go out and about for example at weekends.

Ferries, for example between Tenerife and La Gomera four times a day take around one and a half hours and costing around £25 return. Hydrofoil services may be available. Domestic flights operate between most of the islands with Binter Canarias http://www.bintercanarias.es.

If you are going inland take warmer clothes as it will be cooler at higher altitudes and you may encounter cloud or rain.
