Holidays by Destination Europe Spain Canaries

These islands are known above all for package holidays. Britain sends more than half a million visitors to them every year and they see even more Germans. The result is a turnover of up to £80,000 per square metre of beach. However, though there are clubs, this is not Ibiza and many of the visitors are over 60s.

The big draw is warmth, pretty much guaranteed in the southerly resort areas. In addition now improving tourism standards mean simple things are generally right - the toilets will be clean for example, and discreet teams comb the sand on the main beaches almost day long. Non-resort beaches may not be so clean but you may find other attractions like good rock pools.
