Listed in the Good Hotel Guide, with the admission that it's not quite a hotel, more of a guesthouse with restaurant meals, plus rental properties in the grounds, this 67-acre site was bought almost by chance by three women when they discovered that it was about to be broken up and they now run it with charm in slightly shabby genteel style - no working locks on the bedroom doors for example - with regular musical performances and other workshops on anything from art to angels though non-participants also happily stay at the same time. Food is largely organic and as well as meals happily serve coffee and cream teas. As well as a fine Victorian garden running near riot, there are fields to explore, and at the foot of the valley the river Avon.

For Families

Cot and family rooms available, and children, even babes and toddlers, welcome in the restaurant in the evening. They relish the grounds, though smaller ones need an eye on them by the river.

A first floor double without bath would be £70.50, under 12s half price. Meals are around £30 for three courses in the evening, lunches from £10, available as picnics on request. Self-catering with two double/twin rooms is £550 plus VAT per week in high season, £200 +VAT in low.
