Runs 27 lodges and camps in six Southern and East African countries - South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Tanzania and Kenya. The environmentally friendly operation has won numerous awards.
Children at the lodges are presented with an ‘Eco-guide for Planet-Managers', containing stories, quizzes, a learning guide and tips for spoor and animal identification. Rangers help children complete the guides (using aprons with pockets and bug boxes), collecting pods, feathers, bugs and leaves, teaching them to identify different animal species. Once completed the child gets a certificate of official Planet-Manager.
There are also fishing and frogging safaris and bark-rubbing expeditions, visits to the workshop to oversee Landrover repairs, and lessons in making recycled paper (that can be taken home). The chef welcomes childrens' assistance in the kitchen while baking cookies for afternoon tea. If children eat in the boma, they have a special table set for them or their own fire and marshmallows to grill over the coals under a ranger's watchful eye.
Under 6s are not permitted on standard game drives though 6-11s are, at the discretion of the lodge manager.
Offers children's safari programmes at properties including on the border of the Kruger National Park; in the Madikwe Game Reserve (malaria-free); in Kwa-Zulu Natal; on a private game reserve in the Eastern Cape (malaria-free); near Victoria Falls; in the Okavango; Ngorongoro Crater in Tanzania; in the Serengeti; and in the Masai Mara.
The company will tailormake family holidays, including these properties and other family destinations in Africa.

For Children

The tour operating arm of CCAfrica is called Afro Ventures and can offer itineraries, generally taking in CCAfrica lodges. Examples include Cape Town and Safari, a self-drive itinerary to the Kruger National Park and CCAfrica's Ngala Game Lodge with a children's safari programme, and children's meals. Triple rooms are available, as is a nanny service.
Alternatively a Sun City and Safari trip, a six-day tour which starts in Sun City with family accommodation in Sun City Cabanas with fully supervised kids entertainment at Kamp Kwena plus an adventure playground, mini-golf, a children's animal farm, bumper boats and the Valley of the Waves water theme park. The itinerary continues through the Northern Province to Tau Game Lodge, on the border with Botswana and the 76 500 hectare malaria free Madikwe Game Reserve where more than 10,000 wild animals have been re-introduced in the world's largest game relocation programme. There is a children's safari programme and children's meals, plus family suites and a nanny service available at a small fee.
