Practicalities Getting Organised Insurance Why You Might Need It

It is obviously in the interest of insurance companies to highlight potential problems, but for the record here is what a couple of them comment:

Primary Direct reports the following top 10 reported problems:

  • Accidents in or around swimming pools, or medical problems due to ear infections picked up in the pool.

  • Accidents in motorcycles, particularly in Greece.

  • Accidents caused by walking or falling into glass doors and glass fixtures.

  • Trips and falls.

  • Thefts from villas, particularly in Spain and Portugal.

  • Loss of Baggage.

  • Theft of wallets/handbags.

  • Cancellation of holidays due to illness or death.

  • Sunburn/sunstroke.

  • Theft of valuables from the beach.

According to the Norwich Union:

  • Half of parents on holiday have taken their sick child to the doctor.

  • One in five parents have taken their sick child to hospital.
