From an operator which also runs holiday camps, an option designed for the whole family. Facilities include high chairs, travel cots, a play area including soft play and toys, and babysitting with a local agency for an extra charge. In the evenings there is live music, pool activities and bar, wine bars and a private pub on the centre for all ages, kids' discos, competitions like mini Olympics, gladiators, family talent shows and quizzes, theme nights and barbecue, plus a camp fire.

Location

Barton Hall in south Devon, a self-contained activity village in 46 acres of grounds, four miles from the sea at Torquay and with facilities including a swimming pool.

Activities

A total of 41 are offered, which family members can take part in, or are free to opt out of. These range from problem solving and web site creation to high ropes on a different programme every day and activities are variously bookable and tutored. A number of sessions are designed as drop ins so individuals can set their own pace daily.

Ages

From 5 years, with kids' activities available up to 16.

Childcare

From five years, though children from two are welcome if supervised by parents.

Accommodation

Described as simply furnished, comfortable rooms, all en suite and with colour TV and drink-making facilities. Ground floor rooms are provided if you need easy access.

For a week in August £308 per adult and £200 per child (5-15 years), full board, under 2s free of charge. Shorter stays also available.
