Groups with maximum of 16 including the leader with a daily walk or in some centres such as Trins, two leaders offering differently graded walks so different members of the family can choose different walks.

Minimum Age

No limit though occasionally get children as young as 10, which they report as usually fine, and they are just treated like everyone else. If two parents come sometimes one parent takes the children on a shorter walk while the other tackles something demanding with the group. A good place for this would be Trins, which is close to Innsbruck and its Alpine Zoo. Offers independent walking on all bases too.

Accommodation

Generally in two or three-star family-run places, often the family requesting an extra bed which is usually possible or if there are two children an adjacent room.

Length of Trips

Generally of a week with some of 10 and 14 day trips. Generally eight or 10 miles on grade one to two and expect grade two to be five hours walking per day plus time for pitstops and photo opportunities. Grade one is generally on paths and relatively flat, grade four, with steep ascents and descents and possibly a full pack is not available to under 18s.

Sample Price

A week at Trins £495 per person including flights and half board. Seven nights in Spain might be £475 per person on half board. Discounts for children under 12 on flights which is passed on and hotels may offer a small discount for shared rooms.
