Holidays by Destination Africa Morocco Tour Operators

Pointers on Booking

  • Tour operators offering Morocco generally concentrate on hotels of three stars or more. Given that even in five-star hotels service can be a little erratic, this ensures an international standard of service plus facilities relevant to children - cots (usually low-sided by UK standards), baby sitting, often a pool, sometimes a tennis court.

  • Pricing and arrangements are not geared to families. Different hotels have different policies but Best of Morocco reports that the Mamounia for example, Marrakech's luxury hotel, despite gigantic rooms, allows only one child in your room.

  • Going direct to cheaper accommodation can cut the costs of a trip dramatically. However, though guidebooks are helpful in choosing, booking ahead can be difficult, and trailing round on the spot with a child or two in tow may not be a good way of spending your time. In addition, simpler hotels are unlikely to run to cots, though it is always likely that your children will be greeted with pleasure.

  • If you want to go for the local equivalent of a boutique hotel - a riad or kasbah - it will be cheaper than in Europe, but still £70 to £90 a day. The larger chain hotels, such as Salam, will not be quite so special, but will make the cost more manageable if you are taking children.
