This is a year-round destination as is clear from the tourist office literature which lists activities every season. The mid continent location does mean hot summers and cold winters, making spring and autumn better periods to spend time out of doors - particularly useful with younger children. However, Vienna in the depths of winter has a charm to it. Hotel low season prices last to the end of March and are often offered again in summer when the Opera is closed.
