Holidays by Destination Europe Austria Getting Around

Children under 7 are free on Vienna's public transport year round. Foreign students under 16 years are free on Sundays, public holidays and during the Vienna school holidays. However, identification indicating age may be required.
Cycling is not particularly popular but there is a network of cycle paths and bikes can be hired from Westbahnhof, Sudbahnhof and Wien-Nord, children's bikes reportedly available with a day's notice.
Children may also enjoy a ride in a fiaker, a horse-drawn carriage.
With older children you might like to try one of the English language walking tours for adults which mix anecdotes with sightseeing.
