Follow the house numbers
It's done according to which part of the city they are in, not which street. That means almost nobody understands it.

Look out for the 24-hour clocks
Traditionally sunset was when the day started at 00 hours, and the day was divided into 24 of them. There's an example on Santo Stefano near the Rialto market, and another on Piazza San Marco.

Count lions
What with carved lions, door knocker lions, statues of winged lions, and lion masks, this could keep them busy all day.

Keep a lookout for intriguing details
There are a good few carved dogs for example.

Look out for Leaning Towers of Venice There's one visible from Campo S Angelo in San Marco and another from near the Scuola di San Giorgio degli Schiavoni in Castello.
