The tourist office has a map of specialist food producers. Highlights include:
Philippe Olivier 43 Rue Thiers, Boulogne. Arguably France's best cheese shop with mouth-watering products.
Chocolaterie de Beussent Route de Desvres, Zerables-Beussent. A factory (also with Boulogne shop) offering demonstrations of hand-making chocolates including speciality slabs full of almonds, hazelnuts, pistachios and raisins.
Serge Perard 67 Rue de Metz, Le Touquet. A large fish shop plus restaurant, probably best known for the bottled fish soup stocked by UK gourmet shops.
Champignonniere de la Vallee de la Liane Les Communettes, Hesdin l'Abbe. The mushrooms are super fresh but the point is to get shown round where they grow.
Ferme St Christophe Petit Chemin, Argoules tel: +3 22 23 91 60 fax: +3 22 29 36 86. Makes a good range of store cupboard pates from chicken to wild boar. Contact to check open if visiting at weekend.
Boulogne Market Saturday mornings with cheese, meats, veg etc plus small livestock.
Contesse du Barry, 35 Grande Rue, Boulogne, just beside the market, for high quality but expensive tinned or freezer food.
Idriss 24 Grande Rue, Boulogne, impressive selection of dried and candied fruits.
Auchan RN40 St Martin Les Boulogne. Out of town hypermarket good for standard items. Children's clothes include Petit Bateau.
