Reports that Africa is becoming more family-friendly and offers private group tours (recommended for families, probably with children of at least 10+) or the operator can tailormake to fit particular interests and needs.

Recommendations

Notes that Sabi Sabi in the Kruger park has unexpectedly decided to take children of 3+ with children of 5+ now allowed on safari. For those staying behind in camp childminders can be arranged. The camp has also invested in golf buggies fitted out like safari jeeps for children to take ‘safari' in the camp investigating birds and insects for example.
Other properties which feels would be suitable in River Bend on the Garden Route with plains game close at the Shamwari reserve and the Addo elephant park nearby.
Reports that for families the most popular option is to visit the Cape and Winelands/garden route ending with two or three nights in a safari lodge.

Sample Price

Ten days on the Garden Route would be around £1,500 per person per day. Rates at five-star level, staying for example at Sabi Sabi, would be more like £2,200 per adult, children around half price.
