Widely considered the UK's leading residential tennis and golf academy, with accommodation based in a grade II listed Georgian mansion plus resort cottages with hotel style rooms and a central restaurant. Runs week-long residential junior tennis and golf camps. ‘A structural daily coaching programme has been specially formulated to help youngsters build on their new skills'. There is a babysitting service by arrangement.

Staff Checks and Qualifications

Usually employ teachers or trainee teachers or older university students studying either sport and leisure or education. The general manager has been police checked because also involved in football coaching.

Size of Centre

With 40 guest bedrooms and 20 acres of grounds and so has one of the coaches.

Supervision

At night one supervisor for 10-13 children, sleeping in the cottage with the children.

Activities

Three hours of tuition and video analysis in the morning. Beginners are guided through the basics while more advanced are taught more specialist shots, match play tactics and ‘mental toughness'. In the afternoon there is a mix of sport clinics or a round robin tournament, graded according to standard. Alternatively teaching staff will organise a range of other sporting activities such as football, softball or volleyball. There are also pool activities a video evening and disco.

On Site Facilities

An outdoor heated pool in summer, eight grass tennis courts, four indoor courts, four floodlit hard courts and two further hard courts. There is a nine-hole par three golf course, indoor golf school with 10 bays, a driving range with 12 bays and 18-hole putting green. (There are also preferential green fees at five local 18-hole golf courses.)

Food

Buffets for breakfast lunch and dinners with salad and hot options.

Can organise airport transfers by a local hire company.
