Where

The Singapore-based company acquired the Copthorne group in 1995 and created Millennium Hotels and Resorts which went on to purchase Regal Hotels in the US. Locations include New Zealand, US and Far East. The 90-plus hotels are in 17 countries including the US, UK France, Germany, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Plus Australia and New Zealand.
The group has formed a global marketing alliance with the German Maritim Hotels group, creating a portfolio of 130 hotels in Europe, the US and Asia.

Style

‘a wide variety of hotel styles with high standards of service & facilities in every property' with two distinct brands. Millennium Hotels are four star deluxe and five star properties situated in gateway cities or business locations worldwide. Originally owned by Aer Lingus, Copthorne Hotels are four star properties in regional business or resort locations in the UK, France, Germany, New Zealand, Malaysia and Singapore. Both cater largely to business visitors, at least on weekdays. However, new properties for example in Agadir and Marrakech in Morocco, are changing the emphasis. In addition in Australasia the group operates Quality hotels.

Child Facilities

Recently increasing the options for families in the UK with a Legoland Children's Menu or dining off the adult menu at half price. Restaurants are also happy to heat baby bottles and will supply complementary jars of baby food. Babysitting is available at some properties with qualified childminders provided by Safehands. Most hotels have inter-connecting rooms and some offer family rooms where two children under 16 stay free when sharing with two adults.

Sample Price

Supersaver rate for room-only at the Copthorne Effingham Park, Sussex, might be around £49 but rises to almost double if the saver allocation has been used up. The web site offers real time information and booking.

Child Prices

A promotion by UK Copthorne hotels offered two nights' bed and breakfast for £99 per couple plus one child up to 12 free and children up to 16 years staying in a separate room at £15 per child per night, minimum two per room.
