Practicalities Getting Organised Getting Around Public Transport
Children enjoy riding metros, rickshaws, mountain trains and even prosaic local trains and buses can be fun. TaxisCan be extremely helpful when travelling with children as they deliver straight to the place you want to be and mean the children have energy for the sight itself.
However, drivers notoriously take advantage of tourists and may be particularly likely to do so if they see hassled parents. The old rules apply about always insisting that the meter is used or agreeing a price for the journey before anyone gets in. It can be particularly helpful to ask locals, including hotel reception staff - what the going rate should be. Note that seat belts in rear seats are not common outside the UK and in the event of an accident this could have serious consequences.
Although in undeveloped countries drivers will be happy to pack in large numbers of passengers, where there are regulations about such things families of five or more might have to take two separate cabs.
