Holidays by Destination Europe Netherlands General When to Go

A good destination for those who want to avoid the heat of southern Europe, late spring and early autumn should be good. January and February are the coldest months with daily averages of 2ºc, and July and August the wettest, though also the warmest with average temperatures of 17ºc. The low-lying land and closeness to the sea means sudden showers are always a possibility, more in coastal areas, though in summer there may also be as much as eight hours of sunshine a day.
