Barcelona is a place where lots happens out of doors, making it a good place to keep children entertained just strolling around. There are beaches, interesting shops from traditional to cutting edge, plus intriguing architecture.It is also in the centre a city on the cusp of real gentrification, where the ancient buildings of the centre are still served by corner grocery stores, interspersed by high fashion bars and innovative boutiques. It is however worth remembering that the growing prosperity has not reached everyone and mugging is a potential hazard, particularly in run-down areas.
