Getting Around

Holidays by Destination Europe Denmark Copenhagen Getting Around

Walking is the best way of exploring, and establishments like the National Museum and Glypotech loan buggies to use on site.

There is a good cycle network in and outside the city (including long distance) and you can hire bikes, eg from Copenhagen Bikes tel: 33 33 86 13 at DK50 per day, a child seat at DK30 per week. You can also rent buggy trailers for children but one mother does not recommend these in traffic unless you are experienced. Taxis often carry bike racks.

Buses and electric trains are covered by the Copenhagen Card which also offers free entry to most museums. A 24-hour card for an adult is DK140, 48 hours DK255, 72 hours DK320. Children 5-11 are half price.

A fun family option only sold, not rented, are three wheelers with a box at the front for children. They cost DK8000-12000 from the Christiniana camp (see Places to Go).
