Holidays by Destination Europe Italy Tuscany and Umbria

Tuscany (and for the cognoscenti the greener Umbria) is a destination for parents who feel they deserve to cater to their own interests. There is good food, good wine, fine art, fine landscape, and decent weather.

However, it is not a place for children who need lots of purpose-designed entertainment, though it may help that much accommodation comes with a pool. In addition, with a bit of help and/or prior reading up there are elements of the history and culture which might intrigue children - starting of course with the tower at Pisa.

Sightseeing with children seems unworkable, some of the operators mentioned offer babysitting.

Worth bearing in mind, as costs are sometimes high, Umbrian properties are broadly half the price of Tuscan ones.
