Attitudes to Children |
Holidays by Destination Europe Czech Republic Attitudes to Children Accommodating but not effusive is the standard approach if your turn up with children. They are not commonly found in pubs or restaurants, probably in part because of the levels of smoking in these establishments. Where children are encountered, the older generation expects good behaviour, and may complain if yours run riot. However, the newer central places opening tend to cater to a younger and more relaxed crowd. Play AreasFound in the suburbs but not the parts you are likely to be visiting. Baby Changing FacilitiesNone that we know of. The city has been focusing on dragging itself into the modern, commercial world, with new cafes, restaurants and shops. Refinements like this will probably come later. BuggiesCan be used but over the cobbles of the older parts are not ideal. BreastfeedingNot really expected but in the city the less conformist/newer outlets should accept this - for example teashops. In the country attitudes may be less relaxed. BabysittingMost hotels should be able to find someone who could do this for you. However, you might well end up with someone very young and almost certainly unqualified. Baby StuffDisposable nappies are not yet common. You may be able to find Huggies disposable nappies, for example in the Tesco near Wenceslas Square, but they will be expensive so you are better advised to take your own. Babyfood is also rare and likely to be imported from Germany. Given the reservations about general food quality (see Health) even with older children who are beyond baby food, you might prefer to take your own supplies. |
