An attractive programme from a specialist, operating since the early ‘80s and currently offering a choice of around 150 properties. Each property will be known to at least one member of staff and all are personally chosen by Dominique Wells.

Where

Brittany, Western Loire, Val-de-Loire, and Poitou Charentes, in the Southwest Aquitaine, and Midi Pyrenees, Burgundy, Languedoc-Rousillon, Rhone-Alpes, Provence and Cote d'Azur.

Style

Only restored, older properties and a number of chateaux, all with a certain charm, some outstanding. Mainly properties with private pools (around 12 are fenced) or have access to a beach, and sometime private tennis courts, set in inviting areas. A high proportion would suit groups of 10 or more.

Season

April to mid October. Heating is extra.

Facilities

One cot is usually available free, (cot linen sometimes supplied) 2nd or 3rd sometimes at a small charge. High chairs may be available on request. The maid or caretakers often offer babysitting.

Extras

Domestic help can be arranged at F50-100 per hour. Cooking services (F50-100) are usually only available at the properties sleeping 10-plus, but sometimes also at small ones. Linen is included at around half the properties or may be hired at F30-100 per person if not. Welcome hampers can be arranged.

Sample Price

For a property with pool, sleeping five in the Dordogne, a week in high season would be from £1,380 including ferry crossing.
