Where

Normandy, Loire, Burgundy, Alps, Brittany, Vendee, Charente, Bordeaux, Dordogne, Les Landes, Languedoc, Provence. A table in the brochure rates the different areas for different types of holidays and activities with Brittany and the Vendee particularly highlighted for family beach holidays.

Style

An attractive selection of around 600 properties, mainly for smaller groups, in country settings (farmhouses, cottages, the odd chateau) a few coastal, some in the Alps. Around half offer a pool (largely south of the Loire). A handful are categorised as creme de la creme such as a chateau close to the Dordogne.

Season

March to end October. Heating is extra.

Facilities

Babysitting is available at around two thirds of properties for around F40-50 per hour, payable locally.

Extras

Linen is not generally included in prices but may be hired at around two thirds of properties at around F50-100 per person. A proportion of owners will provide basic supplies.

Sample Price

In a two-bedroomed property sleeping four for a week in peak season the price would be £848 (anything between £750 and £900 depending on area and standard) per property and includes ferry. There is a two-family discount of £25 if two families book neighbouring properties together. Before June 28 and after 30 August the figure doubles to £50. Flights can be booked with BA, Buzz, Ryan Air and Easyjet.
