360 Sun and Ski

Specialist Reports Just For Families With Specialist Childcare With Extra Childcare 360 Sun and Ski

Set up in the same spirit as Ski Jack (formerly Ski Jacques), also in a chalet, based in Les Carroz d'Arache, 40 minutes from Geneva on the road to Chamonix. Run by a family with two small children (ages 4 and 6) ,the idea is to provide the sort of service the owners themselves appreciate.

Location

Based in Les Carroz d'Arache, 40 minutes from Geneva on the road to Chamonix.

Dates

June through September.

Activities

Nothing is arranged by the chalet itself but the resort offers walking, bike trails, mountain hiking, caving, and lakes Geneva and Passy with sailing and swimming.

Ages

Newborn upwards.

Accommodation

Four decently sized bedrooms with twin or double bed plus bunk beds, suitable for two to three families. There are limited rooms with en suite bathrooms but there should be plenty of hot water.

Childcare

Full or half days, from newborn upwards, for as many days as wished, bookable in advance, or bookable by the hour in resort, to allow parents to change plans for example depending on the weather. The charge is £60 for six half days per child, or £100 for six full days, including lunch. Hourly rates, subject to availability, are £5 per child.
In addition in July and August Monday to Friday there is French-speaking care run by the resort for children 4-12 years with for example hikes, trips to the pool, nature activities, and indoor activities if needed.

Extras

The chalet has been made safe for children, is equipped with baby equipment such as sterilisers and listeners, and has a range of entertainment options including videos, toys, sledges and books.
Infant formula can be provided at cost unless you prefer to bring your own brand from home. Baby food can also be provided at cost if required unless you have a preferred brand from home, or the kitchen will ‘blitz veg or other food to make a homemade baby mulch'.
Meals for older children include breakfast (will try to get favourite cereals but can't guarantee it), afternoon tea and a two-course high tea. They will do their best to cook requests but standard items include homemade pizza and pasta, chicken nuggets and sausages, plus fruit, vegetables, yoghurt and desserts.

Sample Price

£360 per adult per week, accommodation and half board. Travel there would be either by self-drive or flight to Geneva in which case a transfer can be arranged at £45 return per adult, children free. Alternatively the nearby stations of St Gervais le Fayet or Cluses are both on the TGV system, easily reached from Paris, with transfers available at £35 from St Gervais or £20 from Cluses.
All children under 16 at the time of travel stay free of charge. This is generally limited to two children per adult but deals for more are negotiable. Food is payable at £25 per week for 1-3 years, £30 per week for 4-6 years, £35 per week for 7-10 years, £40 per week for 11-13 years, and £45 per week for 14-16 years.
