Recommendations

The four-star Fregate in Provence (featured until recently by Powder Byrne) with hotel plus new de luxe self-catering suites, priding itself on its food and offering a children's club divided into three age groups. Brazil stayed here during the World Cup.
In southwest France Moliets with good villas, beach, tennis and windsurfing.
Hotel du Golf Le Saint Denac is also reported good and where the English World Cup team stayed. As well as golf there is a free shuttle to the beach, windsurfing, cycling, tennis, subsidised horse riding and more. Accommodation is in high quality self-catering apartments or three and four bedroomed villas, serviced daily. Childcare is available.
Opened in late 1999 are apartments at Residence du Parc, connected to the three-star Hotel du Parc in Hardelot on the northern French coast. At 2 1/2 to 3 hours from southeast England this is recommended for a short break.
