Basic Choices

Specialist Reports Activity Holidays Skiing Basic Choices

Enjoying the skiing like you did pre-children

and leaving them in childcare. For this see the sections on Resort Childcare and Operator Childcare, and note that if you want your children to do a bit of skiing as well you will have to opt for the second which often includes a drop off and collection service from ski school.

Getting in a bit of skiing

but factoring in time to observe the ski lessons/ski a little in the children's company. For issues relating to choosing lessons see Ski Lessons and Learning to Ski, as well as the Specialist Operators listing which indicates those able to drop and collect from ski school. An alternative is to ski with the children, half the day (ideally mornings when they are fresh) and them leave them in childcare for the afternoon. Whatever you choose, sticking near to the children for even just part of the day will limit the degree to which you can roam.

Spending all day skiing with your children

will cramp your style if you are much good as children, however able, at least at first don't have the stamina of their parents and may well not want to tackle the more demanding slopes. In addition, for this to be successful you will need to know the resort and be a confident skier yourself and follow itineraries well within the abilities of the youngest child. You also need to take into account whether the children are old enough to be good at handling the particularly demanding drag lifts as well as chair lifts.
