Specialist Reports Activity Holidays Adventure Holidays Explore
Now in its third decade, Explore is a specialist in adventure travel. Their Family Adventures Worldwide programme includes trips to 29 countries worldwide, from cruising in the Greek Islands to exploring Indochina. These are all group tours. What and WhereFamily Adventure trips are tailored to those with a shorter attention span so, for example, travelling time between places visited is kept as short as is possible. The programme is run by people who either have children of their own or have worked on family holidays elsewhere, and all trips are accompanied by a tour leader, chosen for their affinity with children. All trips have a theme, options include wildlife adventures, cultural encounters, river and sea trips, natural wonders, and discovering ancient civilisations. Some offer children the chance to meet young people in the country they are visiting. With itineraries generally off the beaten track, accommodation is designed to be part of the experience, options including a ger and a house on stilts. Minimum Age5-plus on some holidays, otherwise 6-plus. Sample PriceThe seven-night Dordogne Adventure costs from £395 per adult and £350 per child; the two-week Andes and Incas trip costs from £1,499 per adult and £1,299 per child. All prices include flights (or train for France), transport on the trip, accommodation, services of the tour leader and some meals. |
