The company has personally researched all itineraries so can answer most queries about them.

Style

Most itineraries include non-cycling days for families to relax, take excursions, mountain hikes or try water sports. The relaxed routes are generally flat or downhill and cover less than 100 miles. The cost includes route notes, luggage transfer and the services of a Freewheel host. If, for example, it rains heavily there is the opportunity to take a train or ferry to the next hotel on most routes.

Accommodation

Mostly in smaller, family-run hotels, though there is also the option of larger, modern hotels with a wider range of leisure facilities. Most have a good restaurant though accommodation is B&B so you can choose where to eat; some have a swimming pool.

Age Accepted

From 2 years.

Bikes

7-21-gear hybrid touring bikes with facilities to improve comfort. A puncture repair kit and pannier is provided. Mountain bikes and hybrid models for children, child seats for 1-3 years, and tag alongs for under threes. Does not hire helmets but recommends that you bring your own.

Where

Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, France, Spain, Belgium and Italy. Particularly recommended for families are Austria and the ‘Into the Valley of the Alps Tour' with wildlife, hiking, summer skiing, tobogganing and river rafting.
