Specialist Reports Activity Holidays Skiing With a Non Skier

If there is an adult in your party doesn't ski and is willing to put in the childcare, you don't need all these creche facilities. With any luck you might meet others in the same position, though this is not at all certain.

If you are going to be swapping childcare responsibilities halfway through the day a resort where slopes end right in the centre would be ideal.

It is much more fun for non-skiers if you choose a resort that has restaurants on the slopes that are accessible by cable car, so that you can meet up at lunch and enjoy the views together. (Some smaller resorts have bars and restaurants on slopes that can only be descended on skis.)

An alternative is to invite along a non-skier, such as a grand-parent, in which case you could but need not necessarily opt for a cheaper self-catering holiday.

If skiing really isn't your thing but you would like your child to learn, many schools organise annual ski trips which are a great introduction for children (who often learn quicker away from over-anxious parents).
