Cornish Tipi Holidays
Stays in a fully equipped and authentically designed tipi without TV or radio, making music round the campfire. The setting is a valley near a lake, where swimming and fishing are both possible. Nearby are fine beaches, fishing villages plus local restaurants including the Seafood Restaurant in Padstow (run by Rick Stein of BBC's Food Heros fame).
Sample Price A tipi sleeping up to four costs £250 per week, a large tipi for six costs £300 per week, plus £10 per person, kids under two come free.
Ulpotha ? a village in Sri Lanka
This centre is open to guests for a few weeks of the year only. The two week holidays include optional yoga sessions, bathing in the lake, healthy local food and walks in the tropical countryside. Income from the holidays helps to fund the reforestation and organic farming projects in the village.
Childcare can be arranged and there are usually plenty of playmates around.
Sample Price From ?980 per adult for two weeks full board including yoga classes, ayurvedic treatments, massages and excursions, flights extra. Children who can share a hut with a parent can stay free of charge, including food. One week from £495.
West Crete Holidays
This centre offers one or two week holidays, where singles, couples and families are welcome. The setting is an old olive mill, surrounded by olive groves between the mountains and the sea, close to the Samaria Gorge. Treatments such as Aromatherapy Massage and Reiki as well as various creative workshops are offered from May to October.
Near the Mill there is a self-catering studio and apartment both sleeping up to four, which are ideal for families with children. It should be possible to organise childcare for children of 1 1/2 to 5 years.
Sample Price Course participants pay £320 per week half board inc transfers. Non-participating friends or partners are welcome and pay £190. Children stay free.
